Kenton-on-sea: The charming seaside village
Little old Kenton has much to offer the wondering soul. Being pretty much unknown among the global community, Kenton is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Let's take a look at what it can offer you;
#1 The beaches & rivers
This is an obvious drawing point for all tourists that visit our area because we do have some of the best beaches in the country. The beaches are pristine, with Middle Beach receiving a Blue Flag status every year. The locals and municipality work together to ensure all beaches are clean and safe to visit year round. The rivers offer a wide variety of water sport options as well.
#2 Cheap accommodation & lots of it
Being a holiday town, there are plenty of holiday homes that are available for rent year round, and most owners would gladly give a special price for a 3 month booking. A quick search on Airbnb will give you over three hundred listings to choose from. They range from small rooms to luxury mansions so the choice is yours!
#3 Peace & tranquility
Sit on your balcony and enjoy the sounds of nature rather than the noise pollution of the city. Listen to the birds sing and the waves crash instead of car horns and people yelling. We may not have the booming nightlife of a city but who needs that when you can enjoy a takeaway pizza in the comfort of your home along with a good book in front of the fireplace?
#4 Safety
Feel free to walk to the beach or the shops without fear of being mugged on every corner. Kids can still ride their bike and play with friends in the street. Yes, like the rest of the world, we have some crime but its very minimal and generally opportunistic.
#5 Local vibe
The locals are exceptionally friendly and will always greet and lend a helping hand when needed. Don't be surprised if you have a full conversation with a complete stranger while doing your grocery shopping, its completely normal here. Making friends wont be an issue, no matter how shy you may be. As mentioned above, we don't have a great nightlife but there are plenty of great restaurants and pubs to hang out and meet people after hours.
#6 Convenience
We have a small shopping center in the middle of town that caters for your basic amenities. If you don't find what you need there, you're sure to come right in Port Alfred, a mere 15km away. Kenton is situated just an hour and 30 minutes from Port Elizabeth which has an international airport. So whatever you need, it's not far away.
#7 Work from home
If you're a remote worker, internet and phone connectivity will not be a problem for you. We have access to super fast wifi and will have access to fiber internet in the very near future.
Give us a DM if you have any questions about our area or if you want to share your experience, we'd love to hear from you!
